It is interesting to note that the following three performers are all theatrically-trained, serious actors, but, have all made their names on screen, playing un-conventional characters such as; a science- fiction character, a funny cab driver or a singing, cross-dressing, mad scientist.

Peter Weller (as Theo Remmington in End of Summer)

Although he has appeared in over fifty films and television series, Peter is best known for his appearances as the title character in the cult classic The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, and the blockbuster hits RoboCop and RoboCop 2. He has also appeared in critically acclaimed movies such as Mighty Aphrodite and Naked Lunch and played the shuttle captain in the short-lived TV show Odyssey 5. In recent years he seems to favor directing over acting, helming two episodes of Homicide: Life on the Street and three episodes of the aforementioned Odyssey 5.

Among his Broadway credits in the 1970s were Full Circle, directed by Otto Preminger, and Summer Brave, William Inge's rewrite of his play Picnic. About this time, he became a member of the famed Actor's Studio.

Weller also holds a Masters Degree in Roman and Renaissance Art, and is an occasional lecturer at Syracuse University on the subject of Hollywood and the Roman Empire. He now hosts the new TV series Engineering an Empire on the History Channel. In December 2006, Weller starred as architect Frank Lloyd Wright at Chicago's Goodman Theatre in Frank's Home, a new play by Richard Nelson.

Tim Curry (as Dr. Kao in Doom Runners)

Tim Curry has a BIG voice!!  He enjoys playing characters that are larger than life and he is frequently cast as villains—both comic and really nasty. It may be his wide Cheshire cat grin that makes him look so menacing. Curry is also an accomplished singer whose breakout performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in 1975’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show made him a star of cult status.

From 2004 to 2007, he began his role of King Arthur in the Monty Python revue: Spamalot in Chicago. The show successfully moved to Broadway in February 2005. His part in the show got him his third and most recent Tony Award nomination, again for Best Actor in a Musical.
